Work Cover Claims
After a workplace accident, the road to rehabilitation is not always easy. Our team of advisors at Synergy Medical provide a variety of solutions to help people return to work and deliver outcome and person centred case management services to support injured clients in their rehabilitation and return to work. To assist the injured worker and their extended support team, we will designate an experienced rehabilitation specialist to liaise with various treating parties and to conduct necessary assessments.
Individual counselling and comprehensive programmes are also available to assist injured workers in finding new occupations if workers are unable to return to their pre-injury position. This could involve job seeking skills, retraining, employer networking and job placements with possible employers. As indicated below, our experts will conduct targeted assessments to create plans and set goals with a tailored return to work program.
Assessments That We Provide Under Workcover Include:
- Initial Needs Assessments – During the initial needs assessment, a broad evaluation procedure is used to gain a thorough picture of the worker’s occupational injury, including the worker’s history, present symptoms, treatment and prognosis. Additional standardised measures are frequently used as needed to ensure a thorough strengths and obstacles analysis can be conducted and to maintain the injured worker’s motivation throughout the return to work process.
- Workplace Assessments – Synergy Medical will conduct tele- or onsite workplace assessments to clarify the functional capacity of the injured worker relative to their work demands and to negotiate suitable duties with the employer to facilitate a safe return to work. The information gathered during this assessment will be used to create a database of the injured worker’s skills and strengths to better understand the needs of employers, identify potential return-to-work opportunities and to create a suitable return to work plan.
- Medical Case Conferencing – Medical case conferences allow Synergy Medical, the injured worker, and the injured worker’s treating doctor to discuss details of the injury or medical factors preventing further recovery, identify barriers in a workers capacity (physical or psychological) and determine if the workplace requirements are in line with the injured worker’s capacity . Through this assessment, Synergy Medical can liaise with the nominated treating doctor to ensure the timely provision of appropriate treatment tailored to the injured worker’s injury recovery and return to work. Furthermore, this will provide the injured worker and nominated treating doctor with a clear picture of how the workplace can be adjusted to meet the injured worker’s needs to enable a timely return to work and recovery in the workplace.
- Functional Capacity Assessment – Synergy Medical will provides a safe and controlled environment for the injured worker to complete standardised and non-standardised physical, conducted by one of our trained allied health professionals, with the aim of identifying the functional limits of the injured worker’s capacity at any given point in their recovery. This examination can be customised to represent the mechanics of the injured worker’s function and how the injury affects it, allowing for a more personalised treatment and return to work path that better meets their needs.
- Ergonomic Assessment – An assessment of the injured worker at their workstation, focusing on their practices and techniques to identify potential pain and injury risks. Our experienced allied health professionals will provide workplace safety education for the injured worker and recommend alternate or additional equipment if needed.
- Vocational Assessment – Our skilled vocational assessors assist injured workers in identifying return to work goals that are in line with their abilities, interests, prior earnings and potential roles in the open labour market, all while taking into account the guiding principles of vocational goal setting.

Work Health and Safety
Our Workplace Health and Safety specialists inspect employers’ businesses to ensure that it complies with current Work Health and Safety regulations and that your staffs are working in a safe environment. Employers can book in a Zoom or Facetime session or a more comprehensive on-site inspection to help them audit their WHS Management Systems for compliance. We work with organisations to undertake workplace risk assessments in order to help them reduce injury and risk in the workplace. This includes identifying potential dangers to their employees, customers and others who visit their establishment.
Workplace risk assessments identify and assess workplace hazards so they can be addressed. Evaluating the effectiveness of risk-control measures over time and regularly upgrading risk-control measures are all part of a workplace risk assessment. Our Workplace Health and Safety Consultants offer training to reduce risks and enable people to take responsibility for their own safety. To maintain training relevant to the work duties and safety particular to each workplace, we adapt our training to meet the safety education needs of each individual workplace.
Driving Assessments
Synergy Medical offers Driving Assessment services following a workplace injury or Motor Vehicle Accident that may affect an injured client’s ability to drive. As OT driving assessors, our goal is to increase the injured client’s safety and independence while also assisting them in maintaining an active lifestyle by preserving their driving abilities. Driving requires high level of physical stamina, vision and cognitive abilities, which can be quite demanding for clients who have sustained injuries. Synergy Medical’s OT driving assessors determine whether or not clients are medically fit to drive. Qualified Occupational Therapists provide suggestions and referral paths to ensure road safety. Transport NSW may require an Occupational Therapy Driving Assessment to be conducted for injured clients presenting with certain medical conditions. Nominated treating doctors or Treating GP’s may also refer the injured clients to an OT Driving Assessment if necessary.
